For vendors with a live offer
Cut the checkout price for a week and keep the same HopLinks
You want a lower checkout total for a week, with the same HopLinks and the same approved product.
On an approved ClickBank product, a percentage coupon lowers what the buyer pays and leaves the price fields in place. An edit can send the product through another compliance review, and an approved subscription cannot change Initial Price or Recurring Price at all. On JVZoo, a dime sale or a time sale is the control on the product, and both follow the clock in the JVZoo section. On Digistore24, affiliate payouts sit inside the transaction fee, and the public pricing page does not show a discount-code form.
Help articles provide the rules. Public comments show what affiliates notice when a commission amount changes. See how we research affiliate networks. That page weighs a help article and a public comment differently.
How each network applies a sale price
Three levers show up in the docs: edit the list price, issue a ClickBank coupon, or turn on a JVZoo timed pricing mode. Pick the row that matches where the offer is listed today, then send the notice at the bottom before anyone mails.
ClickBank
An edit can reopen a review, and subscription prices lock after approval. The sale tool is a percentage coupon, and a PayLink can carry the code. Wholesale is calculated from the sale price. Affiliates hear about the change from you.
Digistore24
The public pricing page includes affiliate payouts in the transaction fee. It does not show a form for editing the price or for building a code. You mail the new terms yourself.
JVZoo
Dime sale and time sale are optional modes, and those modes run on the product clock. The platform fee and the affiliate commission are both based on the price the buyer is charged. Name the end time in that zone.
My take
I'd start with a coupon when the ClickBank product is already approved, and I'd skip a price edit for a one-week promotion. On JVZoo I'd turn the dime sale or the time sale on before anyone writes the email. On Digistore24 I'd wait to name a code until their help article for it is in front of me.
Issue a ClickBank coupon code
ClickBank's edit article says that editing an existing product can require another compliance review, depending on the type of edit. The product table notes that under the Status column.
On a one-time product, a new list price is that kind of edit. A subscription cannot be edited. The recurring-products article says recurring products cannot be changed once they are approved, and a mistake in the pricing or the frequency means creating a new product. The edit article names Initial Price and Recurring Price among the fields that are not editable on an approved recurring billing product.
A coupon lowers the price for the week without saving a new list price. ClickBank's coupon article says sellers can offer a percentage off one product or off every product they have. The discount is applied before tax is calculated and added to the order. Their 20% example puts coupon=20off on the PayLink, after a question mark, so the buyer does not type the code. On a recurring product the discount applies to the initial purchase amount and skips rebills, so later charges stay at the recurring price.
ClickBank's fee article uses a $100 sale as its example. ClickBank buys the product from the seller for $91.50, which is 92.5% of that price minus $1, and pays rev-share from that wholesale amount. The percentage ClickBank keeps is based on the total cost to the customer, including shipping and tax where those apply. A coupon lowers the amount charged on that order, and the wholesale figure is built from the sale price, so the rev-share dollars paid from it move with the checkout total. The commission guide shows what a 50% rate leaves you when the sticker price stays put.
The promotional guidelines prohibit a fake discounted or sale price. Scarcity messaging is allowed only when a real quantity or time limit exists, and that limit was communicated to ClickBank during product approval. A countdown written only for that week breaks the scarcity rule. A new product, when a subscription price really does have to change, still goes through the review described in what the networks check before listing.
ClickBank does not email affiliates about the change. They see it when the next commission is a different amount, which is why the JV page and your own email have to carry the new terms. The HopLink guide explains that the referring affiliate is credited if the buyer purchases within 60 days of the click. Send the PayLink that already includes that HopLink and the coupon parameter. A code sitting on a public coupon site does not carry the promoter's click. The ClickBank vendor review covers the listing fields and the tools URL. The JV page guide outlines what to put on the page affiliates open for swipes.
Digistore24 discount codes
Digistore24's pricing page says the transaction fee covers payment processing, automatic affiliate commission payouts, and global tax and VAT calculation and remittance. On a discounted order, those payouts still sit inside that fee, on the sale Digistore24 processes.
That page does not describe how a vendor creates a checkout code, how a link prefills one, or which affiliate a code credits. Announce a code only after you have read those steps in Digistore24's own help. The Digistore24 vendor review spells out the fee, the deposit, and the company the buyer pays.
A JVZoo dime sale is a setting on the product
JVZoo's product setup post lists recurring, trial, dime sale and time sale as optional, and notes that they run on Eastern Time, like the other timed modes. These are pricing modes on the product, set for the window. If the email says the sale ends at midnight, say it is midnight Eastern Time. Emails scheduled in another time zone will miss that deadline.
The FAQ takes a $100 product at a 50% affiliate commission with the standard 5% fee. The affiliate earns $50, JVZoo takes $5, and you net $45. The fee and the commission are both calculated on that full sale price. The setup post names the mode and the time zone. It does not give a starting price, a step size, or how many sales pass between steps. Because the fee and the commission both use the price charged on that sale, a different charged price changes the dollar commission at the same percentage. Run the price you will actually charge through the fee calculator before you lock the window. Fees and launch timing are covered in the JVZoo vendor review. ClickBank vs JVZoo compares a marketplace listing with a dated launch.
Before a Black Friday affiliate promotion
Publish the terms before the first promotional email goes out. Affiliates do not get a ClickBank notice when you change a price, and a checkout code is something you hand them, often from your affiliates page or by email, after they are in the program.
- The price buyers will pay, or the coupon code.
- The start and the end, in the network's time zone. For a JVZoo dime sale or time sale, use the end time given in that section.
- Whether the commission percentage is changing for the window.
- On a CPA offer, the dollar amount you will pay during the window.
- A sample HopLink, or a PayLink that includes the coupon parameter from ClickBank's 20% example.
- Email swipes that state the price buyers will actually pay.
Those swipes still have to clear ClickBank's promotional rules when the offer is listed there: the discount is a real one, and any scarcity line matches a limit you already declared at approval. The commission percentage itself is a separate decision, covered in what commission to offer.
