For vendors watching disputes

Keep your chargeback rate under the network's limit

One disputed card charge can raise the rate on your account, add a fee on that dispute, and hold a payout.

Stay under the strictest threshold the network publishes. On ClickBank, treat 1% as the ceiling you run under, even where the monitoring zones sit higher. Put the statement name in front of the buyer before the card bill arrives, and pause the traffic source that produced the disputes.

What networks actually measure

The rate is the share of transactions in the period that become disputes. CartPanda's chargeback article sets the fee for each dispute from that percentage. ClickBank keeps a second number beside it. Its fraud article is where that 1% line comes from. Sellers have to keep the fraud rate under it, and the dispute rate under it, as two separate calculations.

Each figure below comes from that company's seller help. The methodology page explains that those pages are the source.

ClickBank chargeback rate: fees, zones, and the 1% line

ClickBank's help article on disputes ties the fee to the account's rate.

  • ClickBank charges $22 under 1.0%.
  • The fee is $29 plus ClickBank's margin between 1.0% and 1.49%.
  • Above 1.5%, the fee is $49 plus ClickBank's margin.

That article also sorts accounts into three zones. Under 1.5% is green, and the account is in good standing. From 1.5% to 1.9% is yellow, which brings an investigation and preventive measures. At 2% or higher the account is red, and ClickBank requires action within 48 hours. A red-zone account that stays there faces a remediation plan, a paused launch, or termination.

I'd judge a ClickBank account by that 1% line. ClickBank says an account over it without meaningful improvement can be closed, and an account can still be marked green after it has crossed 1%, where the middle fee already applies.

ClickBank's advertising guidelines say display ads need the rate to stay under 1.5%. Once the rate is higher, ClickBank suspends those ads until it drops back under that mark.

A seller with fewer than 10 sales reported a suspension after one chargeback. On a book that thin, one dispute is a large share of the orders. That was a single seller. The 1% line above is the rule ClickBank publishes.

The seller contract around these rates is in the ClickBank vendor review. Account pricing is on the ClickBank pricing page. Return windows are on the chargeback fees page.

Digistore24: disputes come out of what you are paid

Digistore24's merchant contract says the company deducts the chargeback amount, including a transaction fee and a chargeback fee, from vendor payments. It may also withhold those payments when it expects chargebacks or refunds. The pricing page folds fraud and chargeback handling into the transaction fee, together with affiliate payouts, tax remittance, platform access and billing support.

The payout timeline shows when Digistore24 releases withheld funds. The vendor terms around the deduction are in the Digistore24 review.

Statement descriptor chargebacks on BuyGoods

BuyGoods seller terms say the company acts as the merchant of record on transactions through the platform. The buyer terms say the purchase appears on the bank statement as BUYGOODS 302-200-3480. A buyer who looks up that line finds a support phone number.

ClickBank's refund article asks sellers to remind the customer that the statement will show CLKBANK*COM or CLKBANK* followed by the order number. "Does not recognize the charge" is the fifth seller-specific refund reason on that list.

BuyGoods prints the statement line in those terms. ClickBank's cap and the fee per dispute are in the fee list above. The seller side of the BuyGoods line is in the BuyGoods review.

JVZoo: the processor decides who fights the dispute

The JVZoo FAQ splits this by who charges the card. With your own Stripe or PayPal, the platform fee is 5%. The money reaches you after the 30-day refund period, and you deal with the dispute at that processor. With JVZoo Processing Services, the platform fee is 8.5%. JVZoo then handles disputes, refunds, fraud prevention and payment logistics.

ClickBank vs JVZoo puts the two payout clocks side by side. The rest of the FAQ is in the JVZoo review.

CopeCart: the rate moves your fee tier

CopeCart's tier article gives the dispute rate a 45% weight in the monthly risk score. A 3% rate counts as 3 in the example on that page. At the critical tier the surcharge can reach 8%. CopeCart's help page on disputes says the fee depends on the payment service provider.

The EU terms are in the CopeCart review. Digistore24 vs CopeCart sets the two contracts side by side.

CartPanda Pay: three dispute fees and a reserve

Some vendors keep affiliates on a network and still take the card payment on CartPanda Pay. That checkout has its own fee schedule. CartPanda Pay charges $18 per dispute below 1.0%, $24 from 1.0% up to but not including 1.5%, and $30 at 1.5% or higher. The breaks follow the same three steps as the ClickBank fee list: under 1%, a middle band, and a higher band from 1.5%.

CartPanda's reserve article sets a rolling reserve at 5% of domestic volume and 10% of international volume. The risk team may raise that percentage when refunds and disputes could push the balance negative. The CartPanda review covers that checkout.

Reduce chargebacks on digital products

The name on the statement is the part you can change. Put the ClickBank and BuyGoods lines from the sections above on the order form, the thank-you page and the confirmation email, while the buyer still has the order in front of them. The same reminder covers a supplement funnel and a digital download. The buyer who sees CLKBANK or BUYGOODS and cannot match it to the product is the person behind "Does not recognize the charge", already fifth on ClickBank's seller-specific list.

When the account is red, pause the traffic source that produced the disputes inside the 48-hour window above. A refund the buyer opens with the network stays on the return path. The fee steps above apply when the bank opens the dispute.

Reserves can hold cash before the rate cap

Digistore24 can withhold vendor payments for disputes it expects, which can happen while the account is still under a published cap. CartPanda can raise the reserve in the section above when refunds and disputes threaten a negative balance. The payout timeline puts each network's hold on a calendar. Other guides for sellers are on the vendor guides page.
